Drink & Drive,Live da Life

I just encountered the dreaded BSOD again, which caused the lost of this post T_T

Yesterday's supper outing turned in to an unlikely 9 hour event. Our group has ballooned to 11, with 2 guest additions - Eileen and George. Our session started at midnight, where our convoy of 3 cars headed to Bedok for the famous minced pork noodles and oyster omelette. From there, we proceeded to Thomson Road for some praaata. We never stop eating, it seems.

The Regulars

We enjoy eating and chilling out, discussing our experiences and current affairs, but the fun only really begins when we start drinking. After visiting two supper locations, we intended to go for breakfast, but some of the guys weren't too keen on that. After deliberating for some time, we headed to Joan's place!

The Usual Suspects

The Casualties

Say Ee sports a crew-cut now, after deciding to get rid of the troublesome long hair. I'm actually contemplating on cutting my hair short too, but I can't bear to lose my long hair =X Should I do a TL, or not?

I didn't drink much, partly because they didn't have many opportunities to get me good =P At the end of it, most of them couldn't walk straight. I'm still feeling tired from the overnight outing, mainly because I slept less than 5 hours, not taking into account the disturbances caused by my family.

Caught 200 Pounds Beauty with Nini last Friday, and I enjoyed it lots. It was both funny and touching. And oooh, the main actress is hot and shapely. Spiderman 3 opens on May Day, and I'm tempted to catch it then, but I guess I'll wait a while and watch it with Xavier and the guys.

Thanks to Vas & Pris from The Dancefloor, I won a wager with Mab & Don. Hehehe =P

The Don In Da Kitchen

I've been eating non-stop today, and I've had lots of greens. It's Mab's birthday! and Donald bought us breakfast from Tiong Bahru (or was it Tanjong Pagar?). That was my first meal of the day, followed shortly by yet another breakfast. My colleague, Francisca bought breakfast for Jing Yi and me, which is really thoughtful and sweet. *burp*

Shortly before lunch, we had the traditional company cake cutting session. Lunch followed with a set meal, consisting of a soup/salad, a main, and a dessert. I didn't want any main course, but the eating place was having some kinda promotion, so we were given a free set. I had only the salad and dessert. Lately I've been slightly more health conscious, and I try to have fruits after lunch.

Work has been tiring and endless of late. I look forward to the weekends, but I dread returning to the office on Monday as the work would have snowballed over the weekends =S After work we went to Vivo City because Mab wanted to get a dress. I went to Ben & Jerry's to rest while Mab did her shopping. yF was working during that time, and she took a picture of a tiny-eyed Bean. If you pass by B&J at Vivo, look out for my picture on its walls.

Back @ Mab's place, the Don was in the kitchen, cooking up a hearty meal for us. It's the first time I've seen him doing the cooking, and I must say that he's a pretty good cook.

Lovely Portobello Mushrooms

In Cooking

I did take a few pictures of The Don, but due to a 'big' issue, I don't have the permission to post them on my blog =P Here are the dishes that he cooked. They look really appetising, don't they?

The Don Salad

Portobello Mushrooms in Stilton Cheese

Rosemary Chicken in Lemon

I forgot to take pictures of Donald's prawn and vegetable soup. It was a fusion meal, where east met west. Donald says that stilton cheese is known as the champagne of cheese. It's supposedly really good, and it costs quite a bit. I enjoyed his cooking thoroughly! It's not everyday that he actually gets down to cooking ya.

Somehow I feel that I'm often kinda rushing through my posts since some time back, and when I do that, I can just feel that the quality of my posts are crap. My posts may be accompanied with interesting pictures, but due to time constraints I can't expand my writing to its potential. They are not consistent and progressively gradual. Sometimes I feel that they can get pretty random, which is what I am like.

And here's a pic of my Emporio Armani glasses.

You. Me. We

For every bump and fall, we stand together.

For the good times ahead, we will be together.

For our children and loved ones, we shall love them together.

For us, forever.

Photographs and captions by Linus.

Will there be an end to this heartache?

Will we ever see another sunset together?

Will you, and do you, still love me?

For this one last time, I need to know,

Dreadful & Beautiful

Back to the OCH topic. Some of my friends think that I'm either crazy or just bold to visit OCH for a photo shoot. The truth is, I'm actually timid. If not for the other guys, I'd never venture deep alone. Someone suggested a sunset shoot on the roof of OCH, but I am quite unsettled on that.

For those who want to give themself a little scare, check out the following links on OCH by SPI: Haunted OCH and Ghoulish Trail.

Torture Chamber

Mortuary

The above pictures by SPI show the torture chamber and the mortuary, which we might have missed out. We don't know for sure because the storage for bodies have been removed, and I can't recall visiting the torture chamber (the torture chamber was used by the Kempeitai during the Japanese Occupation).

Louis commented that we might have passed by the torture chamber, because he noticed some strange rooms without any windows. By my standards, OCH by itself is a place with strong hauntings. Visit the place at night and you'll find out for yourself. Bats have made OCH their nest, and we did have several close encounters with the residents there (the bats, not something else!).

According to SPI, the seventh floor of OCH was used to facilitate prisoners. We did notice iron gates and stronger security barricades when we explored that level. I am intrigued by the gory history of OCH, but I think that I should not spook myself further lest I might go crazy one day. I shall proceed with the beauty behind its bloodstained history.

Introducing the nicest and cutest guy in Foto Weekenders:

Janiel

The following pictures are by Janiel. Look at what a dSLR can do. Janiel often says that it's not the camera but the person behind the viewfinder who can create wonders, but as you can see my works are nothing compared to his =P Enjoy his beautiful art!

Brush With The Past @ OCH

It's been a long, tiring, but fulfilling day. I saw light at 7, and met the guys for breakfast at Changi Village before heading for our destination, the Old Changi Hospital. The session lasted more than 5 hours, and the number of pictures that I took hit a record of close to 200. After my scrutiny, about 160 of them are left. It's gonna be a post filled with lots of pictures once again, so I shan't type much for now. Let the rediscovery of OCH begin.

Up to this point, we had been exploring the facility level by level, trying to search for the mortuary. It seems that we did locate it, but the cold storage rooms were dismantled and removed. The entire compound was freely accessible, and we came to a flight of stairs which led to a ladder, which brought me up to the roof top. The rooftop provided a 360 degree bird's eye view of the area surrounding the OCH.

Shot of the day:

Void and Incomplete

Once again, the above pictures were not photoshopped. I'll post the photoshopped pictures on my Multiply site when I'm done with them, which might take a few days. I did some videos as well, but dumb me recorded them in portrait layout so there's some editing to do before I can compile it into one.

The 5 hour shoot today took quite a bit outta me. The Caucasian model didn't turn up, so Linus and I stood in as the models for the day. Pictures on my first attempt of modeling to come as soon as the other guys send'em over.

As you've probably already heard, OCH is rumored to be haunted due to the blood spilled during the Japanese Occupation. Prior to this shoot, I used to think that the orbs which appear in pictures were made up. If you read SPI's website, orbs are quite common in the pictures that they take. Today for the first time, orbs appeared on my pictures. If you scroll up and review the picture titled "Stairway To..", you will notice two orbs.

I don't know what they really are. There aren't any scientific explanations on it, but SPI's beliefs are that they are of a supernatural source. In a certain picture that I took in the dark room with the chair, there were several orbs swarming around it. During the day, OCH doesn't look that spooky, especially when you're in a big group. But at night, when you start revisiting the images and thoughts, it can be rather eerie.

Beauty can exist even in places that are abandoned and bleak. When you feel hopeless, look forward to the tranquility after the storm. There's definitely more pictures than these, but I can't possible upload all of them. If you're keen on viewing the rest, do ask me for them =)

Shop Bean, Shop

Spent the whole day out with Sis yesterday. Did my eyebrow threading at Peninsula Plaza, and hey it hurts. It didn't take longer than 5 minutes, but it hurts like T_T

Did some shopping, which took me from Peninsula Plaza to Suntec, and Far East Shopping Centre. Though I didn't buy much, the bill came up to quite a bit.

Little stuff

Upgraded my "2 Million Dollar Home" for a bigger "4 Million Dollar Home", which I'm really satisfied with. Bought a little handphone pouch and a tiny Nike water bottle from The Wallet Shop, and a fragrance for my room. Now my private world smells like baby powder =D

This certainly doesn't appear much, yet. Because... The buy of the day was a pair of black/red Emporio Armani spectacles. The frame cost $250, so uhh you can make a smart guess of the total after including the multi-coated lens.

It's Saturday already, and it doesn't feel long before the weekend is coming to an end. Next week is gonna be pretty hectic with several upcoming events that will be of some impact. But before that comes, I'm gonna enjoy my shoot @ OCH tomorrow. Let's hope for fair weather.

The Truth 'Bout Bean

10 things that most people probably don't know about the seemingly-superficial Bean that is always smiling... This is quite personal, but well if I can't get personal with my blog, then what is it for then? If you care, then treat it as something that I'm sharing with you. If you don't, then why are you still reading?

Let's start with the surface.
Vain, Vain Bean!

Much as I hate to admit, I acknowledge that I am slightly vain. This goes without saying, and I believe that most of my friends would testify to it. But how far exactly would I go? As far as eyebrow threadding. Period.

Shapely Bean? Think Again

If I said that I'm fat, many people would throw stones at me. I used to be a tad underweight just a year ago. Ever since certain close people around me started contributing their food to the Get-Bean-Fat Project, I've put on some weight. I'm now 55kg, and I've got a tummy. I FEEL fat. So friends, PLEASE try to stop me when you see me going on binges.

My Poisons

Good food is something that I just can't stay away from. I'm quite used to eating good stuff, which often costs me a fair amount of money. Other than food, my next natural enemy is boys' toys - gadgets. Whenever I shop for such things, I often end up spending more than what I should have.

People say that money can't buy happiness, but I beg to differ. Money can bring people joy. Keeping it is the challenge. After all, how long can the money support one's paid pleasures/leisures?

The Gloom Behind the Smile

While I'm often smiling, few notice times when I feel forlorn. The ones who do are either my closest friends, or people who got an acute sense of observation. If you cared, I do actually appreciate the gesture. But there are times that I prefer to be left alone.

Often I look into the distance and wonder why the skies and seas were made so blue, and how I could feel as blue too. Things that make you happy make you sad. Isn't that true?

Sensitivity = Femininity?

I can be pretty sensitive at times - not to touch or hurtful words, but to the feelings of others. Being with Yao Wei for some time has actually brought more of this out of me. In this aspect the contrast of our Scorpio traits show - I am extroverted while he is introverted. He takes care of me and I do appreciate him. That is to say, if I'm gay I'd probably be the 'female'!

Spending My Time

Ever since graduating from NYP, I've been keeping myself busy, very busy. I work on weekdays, and go on photography sessions during the weekends. I'm trying to find time to return to sailing. It's just not me to spend a long period of time wasting myself away. Perhaps in the past I did, but I shall not continue in my old ways. Part of the reason why I keep myself occupied is because I hate to waste time doing nothing. The other half of the cause is to stop myself from...

A Time For Us

I refer fondly to the memories of us. Each time I tried to take a step forward and away, I inevitably stopped to look back, searching for a reason to linger for a second longer. No matter how hard I try to grab at sand, it still slips through my hands. Have I been building sand castles all these while?

Some people say 'Follow your heart', while others choose to think instead of allowing their heart to make a fool out of their mind. I'm hopeless when it comes to romance, so I had to do something. I kept myself busy to stop myself from thinking or feeling. Because it is impossible to go back being the me before I met you, I had to move on.

When I look over my shoulder, I see images of us teasing each other and laughing. It hurts to have to almost drag myself away from it. Even after looking away, I still see you wherever I go. You might not have been my first love, but there's the possibility that you might be my last =]

Living My Free Life

I've come to realise that I don't like to be pressured by people or commitments. I tend to feel put off when external pressures are present. For instance, when pursuing my interests or passions, I enjoy doing that on my own free will and accord. When there's presence or pressure from others, I tend to be less enthusiastic and passionate over it.

I respect the spirit of free-will, and that's why I would never coerce people into doing things that they dislike. When negotiations don't work out well, there're always sharp objects lying around that could help...

A Little Respect

The one thing that puts me off the most is when adults take me lightly. I know that I am young, and that I look even younger, but still I expect at least the basic respect that one would give to another. If you don't respect me as who I am, or as a person, then do expect the same treatment from me. I'm a Scorpio, and I sting.
If you're still with me, do take note that my mobile phone is faulty - it tends to turn off by itself. If you're unable to reach me, try your luck on MSN, or leave me a message and hope that I turn on my mobile phone soon. I don't know of any other alternative, other than to send it for repair during the weekends, but honestly I don't really care 'bout the phone since it rarely rings these days.

I'm finally home in my private room that I call my own little world. Things just keep getting better (is it because of my perspective?) it seems. As the time for NS draws nearer, I cherish even more the freedom that I have now. I am left with a few months of boyhood left before everything's changin' when I enter the army, which is soon =)

Goodnight girl.

April Buys

I've gotten myself a Crumpler "2 Million Dollar Home" bag, a Crumpler "The Bundle" pouch, an additional BST-37 battery for my phone, 2 Sony NP-FT1 batteries and a 2GB Pro Duo memory card for my T10. It comes up to quite a bit, but this month's pay including the freelance work I did is quite substantial =P

I think I'm gonna change the "2 Million Dollar Home" for a slightly bigger 3 or 4 Million Dollar Home on Friday =D This weekend's photoshoot will be at the Old Changi Hospital, and I'm looking forward to it already!

Party @ Joan's

Back to last Saturday... After I got my 19" LCD, I was reformatting my PC after my monitor konked out. Seems like the AGP and RAMs were affected, but I got them back to work after re-seating 'em. I almost gave the party a miss, but I'm glad that I decided to join them, otherwise I'd have missed out a fair bit of fun.

We did the usual, which is senseless drinking. I brought a Barcardi over (which we barely drank) in addition to Joan's Peach Absolut and Bombay Sapphire. At the end of the session, we finished the vodka and half of the gin. I didn't get to drink any of the gin due to my superior skills in playing 007 XD While playing dice I tried to get Wilson to drink, so we both ended up drinking a fair bit.

I can't recall the details of what we did that night, but I have a vague idea of it, backed with a pretty straight-forward compilation of the videos that we took that evening.

First one to go down was Say Ee, which happens every single time =D Things got pretty wild when everyone got high. That includes something that I always wanted to do - shaving a birthday boy's legs!

Say Ee taking it like a man

Wilson, blur and adorable as ever

And now, the video that everyone's anticipating. I've finally put it together in one piece =P Hope that all the people who were there that evening enjoys the time we spent and the crazy stuff we did together. I'm certain that it's memorable for JX eh ;)

CityScape Asia 2007

I'm certain that everyone who blogs frequently have encountered losing their post due to some technical error every once in a while. Working on Mabel's Fujitsu has allowed myself to be familiar with the much-feared Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD). That saying, I had to painfully retype this post T_T

This does come rather late, but due to my tight schedule throughout the week, I found time to process and upload the pictures only now. For those who don't already know what CityScape Asia is about, it's an international business-to-business property investment and development event that is held in Singapore over three days (which has already concluded). I shall allow my pictures to deliver what I can't do with just words.

Note: This is a rather graphically intensive post with lots of photographs.

That pretty much sums up CityScape Asia 2007's exhibitors. Of course, CityScape Asia is not just about the exhibition - there were 3 conferences being held concurrently over the three days, but as I was not part of the conferences, I don't know much 'bout them.

I must say that the three years spent in Poly were not as enriching as the short 1 month stint that I worked with IIR Exhibitions. Of course, work at the office isn't exactly interesting, but I've always been more inclined towards PR, and I definitely prefer this over game programming. Now that CityScape Asia is over, I'll be assisting with another project, which is the PalmExpo. All I know of it as now is that it's a audio/lighting/musical intruments show to be held in Beijing during June.

Work aside, I attended the Cocktail Party @ Bar Cocoon during the 2nd day of the event. Initially I did feel kinda out of place, but after the my colleagues grouped together, we had lots of fun. I enjoyed myself thoroughly after all the evenings of overtime.

Well uhh, that evening was enjoyable. Which reminds me, it's been a really long time since I clubbed. Seems like the trend of late is to party with friends not at clubs, but at someone's place. So on the last day of the event, I took group pictures of the sweet ladies who helped with doing surveys. I enjoyed working with them, and I hope they feel that way too! =P

Yeap that's Ness, my childhood friend. As we always introduce each other to our friends: "We had a special friendship. We used to shout across the field between the HDB flats that we lived in, even though we could use the telephone". More than 10 years of friendship, and it's amazing that we're still in contact after losing contact for years.

Just a few more pictures before I retire for the night. Here are the pics that I took on Friday;

Beano's Dato

I haven't gotten my 19" display yet, and I am a lil disturbed by it...

Spent most of the afternoon cleaning up my room. It has only been vacated for a week, but its condition was as though it had been uninhibited for a month with cobwebs around. I took down my liquors, cleaned the shelves, wiped my television and mirrors, washed the curtains and put'em back, and vacuumed my whole room. At the end of it, I felt tired but pretty satisfied after reinstating it to its former cleanliness.

Went with Dad to pick Mom up after her work. Our initial plan was to head to Sim Lim to get my display, but Mom wanted to wait for her friend (who's in the IT industry) to get back to her, as he could probably get me a better deal. Her choice is no doubt wiser, but nevertheless I felt frustrated over it during that point of time >.<

Since the trip to Sim Lim was cancelled, I headed to Marina Square to meet Nini for our date. We spent 3 hours on dinner at the Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe. I love their Dim Sum! After the dinner we walked to the Ferris Wheel and chatted before going on a ride (she rides a bike =D). My favourite drive is along the AYE where the Ferris Wheel can be seen on the left, while the CBD lights up the entire stretch on the right. So she rodetook me for a ride along the AYE, CTE, and SLE back home =D

It was a pretty long ride and the wind was cold. I put up pretty well against cold so it didn't really affect me. It was comfortable with her companionship and needless to say, I enjoyed the date. And... It's also the first time that I had a girl sending me home :$

Bean @ Home (Finally?)

CityScape Asia 2007 has officially ended, and with that, I am home after being away for a week. On my journey home, I was thinking that the only thing that I wanna do when I get home, is nothing. And now the last thing I'd wanna do is try to fix my computer's display monitor. I know that it's not Mom's fault that it died when she was using it, but nevertheless I am upset over it.

I was looking forward to winding down and relaxing at home, but the spoilt monitor kinda killed the mood. Imagine my disappointment when I arrived home (after being away for a week) only to find my PC inaccessible. That means a new 19" LCD screen is probably on my to-buy list. Because of the dead monitor,

I can't:
Listen to my collection of music and chill out
Post-process my pictures
Scan the Cocktail Party pictures
Post the pictures on CityScape Asia 2007
Send the group pictures to the girls
Play DotA
Watch the last 3 episodes of Prison Break Season 2

The few things that I can do now are:
Sip my 42 Below and chill out
Sleep
Look forward to a partially/fully subsidised LCD monitor

And that's what I'll probably do.

Post 101

CityScape Asia is now underway. Tomorrow would be the 2nd day into the event, and I'm going for the exclusive Cocktail Party at Bar Cocoon! Sorry Ness, I tried to get you access but the red tape just didn't allow for it to happen. I'm halfway falling asleep again while drafting this post.

My past weekend was spent working during the build-up stage for CityScape Asia, and I stayed back till like 9 pm. The newspaper ads had to be rushed for submission so the week was rather hectic. Fortunately now, the ads are complete and I can at least relax after work. Pictures on CityScape Asia will follow over the weekend if my schedule allows.

Left: Original                                   Right: Photoshopped

Picture courtesy of Janiel - taken during the at Cherrific Shoot on Good Friday. I like the framing, but it was a bad week due to late nights so my complexion and eye bags are horrible. I showed Donald the fucked-up original and the post-processed image, but he said that the latter is still fucked-up T_T

I'm gonna have early nights if possible after CityScape Asia. I'll probably be still working part-time for IIR Exhibitions, but that's subjective to change. Irregardless, I'm looking forward to a good rest after this Thursday. And just a little modest showing-off, my blog has hit 10,000 page views.

10,000

Uhh modest and show-off doesn't exactly go together, but whatever!

Good Friday's Cherrific Shoot

Ah, the mighty feelings of satisfaction came. And went. It came when I viewed the results of today's photo shoot, which I deem as a very fruitful one. So how did it leave? When I knocked out upon lying on the bed. I got out of bed around 6 this morning - Sis dropped Donald off for his friend's wedding event, and we went for breakfast before going home (Woodlands) to pick up my tripod. Due to lack of sleep I'm feeling lethargic now, but the results of the photo shoot session is well worth the sacrifice of sleep.

Enjoy.

I love the photography concept for the day. I came up with the idea of using cherries and milk, but it is the Foto Weekenders' experience that truly allowed me to explore my potentials. A big thanks to Louis (who hosted the shoot), Stanley (who exchanged pointers), and Janiel (for the tips, sharing, and lift to my sister's place).

I almost forgot to add that our next shoot will be a themed model shoot featuring Stanley's daughter and Phoebe. Check back for updates =)

Disclaimer : No Photoshop enchancing were done to the pictures above. As Janiel said, it's all about the lighting! For refined touch-ups, check out my album at icenstars.multiply.com.

Chalet KKK

Today is yet another of those days which I would instantly drift to dreamland the moment head rests on the pillow. I did enjoy the class chalet which I attended on Tuesday and Wednesday (which I will be updating in due course). Work today was pretty hectic, and I was busy all day without much rest. Worked through lunch and did over time till 11 pm. Yes, work is totally uninteresting when I mention it here. So on with the class chalet.

Met up with Qin Cai and headed down to the chalet at Aloha Changi. It is located pretty near to the previous chalet that I hosted a year and a half ago. Activities were pretty typical - BBQ, drinking, playing card/dice games. Close to midnight, I took a stroll and brought my tripod along. The beach where something meaningful took place is no longer accessible due to renovations work, which was rather regrettable.

Dragonboi and OneDot are partially hidden at the back. Hehe those two are always into something together. *chuckles* This is the only group picture that I have. If you want the other pictures taken by me, do drop Joycelyn a message 'cos she's the only one who has them at the moment, other than me (and I won't be around for the coming week due to work commitments).

I slept early that night as I wasn't exactly feeling very good. Woke up early next morning and took a walk around the area, taking more pictures of abandoned buildings in the vicinity. This proved to be quite rewarding.

I didn't quite explore OCH as I was alone. Having a companion at such a location certainly does help. It was daylight, but there's just something about the place that makes me want to have companionship. I want to return to OCH soon for a more elaborate photo shoot. More abandoned buildings were discovered as I walked on.

Last but not least, the chalet that allowed us to gather once again. Big kudos to Nadhar who hosted and organised the entire event! The upcoming week is gonna be busy. I have a product shoot with the Foto Weekenders later in the morning, and I'll be working on-site at CityScape Asia from Saturday to Thursday. I'll try to update soon. Till then!

Multiply?

Hmm I'm contemplating switching over to Multiply, which is pretty much similar to Friendster. To me, Multiply seems like a combination of Friendster, Photobucket, and Blogger. I certainly do not need another Friendsterish service, but the Photo album + Blog function is rather enticing. The cons to it is that its blog function seems rather subdued. It doesn't allow as much customisation as Blogger does =/

I'm totally comfortable with Blogger after using it for around 4 years, which is the main factor that's holding me back. Sentimentalness, or just afraid of losing the sense of familiarity. That's something that plagues many people. Do you too have this weakness?

April's Fool Sun Riser Shoot @ The Esplanade

The day saw me getting up at 0530 hours, which is unusually early for me. Stayed over at Sis' place the night before, and she was kind to send me to The Esplanade, which really helped a lot =D Met up with the Foto Weekenders (our new name?) and snapped away a bit before walking over to shoot the half completed Ferris Wheel. We are among the firsts to do that as mentioned.

Without much further a do, I shall let the pictures take over since I still got work to finish up, and I don't wanna spend all night staying up. Here are some of the selected pictures taken yesterday and today:

Seaview @ SAFYC

Mr.Moon                                          Stairway To

Heart of The City @ 6am

Moments later...

Look ma!                                               Bean There

Close Up                                          Ferris Whatever

The Missing Photographer

Linus @ Work

Lost In Blue

Hoping to Soar?

Linus doing his thang *giggles*

That quite sums up what I took today. There are several variations, but I certainly don't want to post many similar pictures. Besides, as you can see, I'm writing this post with some time constrains. Will greatly appreciate it if you can leave comments on which shot of the Ferris Wheel you like most.
